After the success of our workshop series on IIFM Standards in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM) and Dar Al Sharia (DAS) are pleased to announce: IIFM Standards Masterclass on Liquidity and Hedging Management.
The four day workshop will be held in coordination with ‘The Waqf Fund (Bahrain)’ from 18th September to 21st September 2023 in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain and will cover the following IIFM Standards:
Islamic Hedging Standards:
• IIFM Standard - 2: ISDA/IIFM Tahawwut (Hedging) Master Agreement
• IIFM Standard - 3: ISDA/IIFM Mubadalatul Arbaah (Islamic Profit Rate Swap) - Single Sale
• IIFM Standard - 4: ISDA/IIFM Mubadalatul Arbaah (Islamic Profit Rate Swap) - Two Sale
• IIFM Standard - 7: ISDA/IIFM Himaayah Min Taqallub As'aar Assarf (Islamic Cross Currency Swaps) - First Leg and Second Leg
• IIFM Standard - 8: ISDA/IIFM Wiqayah Min Taqallub As'aar Assarf (Islamic Foreign Exchange Forward) - Single Binding Wa'ad
• IIFM Standard - 9: ISDA/IIFM Wiqayah Min Taqallub As'aar Assarf (Islamic Foreign Exchange Forward) - Two Unilateral Wa'ad

Islamic Liquidity Management Standards:
• IIFM Standard - 1: Master Agreements for Treasury Placement (MATP)
• IIFM Standard - 5: Inter-Bank Unrestricted Master Investment Wakalah Agreement (UMWA)
• IIFM Standard - 6: Master Collateralized Murabahah Agreement (MCMA)
Learning Outcome: Upon completion, the Participant will be able to:
• Develop understanding of the underlying Shari’ah structures for Hedging and Liquidity Management
• Know the required documentation and execution process for Shari’ah-compliant alternatives
• Know the IIFM Standards on Hedging and Liquidity Management including its application and adoption in day to day requirements
The objective of the practical and application oriented workshop is to equip finance professionals, industry practitioners and other stakeholders with knowledge of underlying Shari’ah structures, core documentation and execution process for transactions relating to the above IIFM Standards. IIFM and Dar Al Sharia invite financial industry practitioners to take this opportunity to benefit from the workshop where the focus will be on sharing practical experience in negotiation and adoption of IIFM Standards in banking operations. In general the workshop is open for all mid to senior level practitioners with experience of Islamic banking products. However, particularly for teams working in Treasury, Risk Management, Product Development, ALM, Legal, Shari’ah, Audit and Compliance the workshop will provide practical insights into navigating the IIFM Standards.
