Owing to removal of travel restrictions and advisories across the region and based on the demand from the participants and institutions we are now pleased to announce that our workshop ‘Shariah Compliant Hedging Master Class’ will now be held on-site in Dubai UAE from 23rd to 25th May 2022.

As you may be aware, the three-day On-site learning workshop will cover the following IIFM Hedging Standards:

- IIFM Standard - 4: ISDA/IIFM Mubadalatul Arbaah (Profit Rate Swap) - Two Sale
- IIFM Standard - 7: ISDA/IIFM Himaayah Min Taqallub As'aar Assarf (Islamic Cross Currency Swaps) - First Leg and Second Leg
- IIFM Standard - 8: ISDA/IIFM Wiqayah Min Taqallub As'aar Assarf (Islamic Foreign Exchange Forward) - Single Binding Wa'ad Based
- IIFM Standard - 9: ISDA/IIFM Wiqayah Min Taqallub As'aar Assarf (Islamic Foreign Exchange Forward) - Two Unilateral and Independent Wa'ad Based Standards
- IIFM Standard - 10: ISDA/IIFM Islamic Credit Support Deed for Cash Collateral

The objective of the practical and application oriented workshop is to equip finance professionals, industry practitioners and other stakeholders with knowledge of underlying Shari’ah structures, core documentation and execution process for transactions relating to the above IIFM Standards.

IIFM and Dar Al Sharia invite financial industry practitioners to take this opportunity to benefit from the workshop where the focus will be on sharing practical experience in negotiation and adoption of IIFM Standards in banking operations.
In general, the workshop is open for all mid to senior level practitioners with some experience of Islamic banking products. However, particularly for teams working in Treasury, Risk Management, Product Development, ALM, Legal, Shari’ah, Audit and Compliance the workshop will provide practical insights into navigating the Standards.

Mohammed Saifullah Khan is the chief executive officer of Dar Al Sharia, the world’s leading Islamic finance advisory firm. Dar Al Sharia has achieved robust growth and recognition across the Islamic finance industry for rendering innovative and bespoke Sharia advisory solutions to its global clientele. He has a proven track record across Islamic finance advisory and law and is part of the leadership team responsible for the corporate direction and strategy at Dar Al Sharia. He is at the forefront of structuring and documenting landmark Islamic finance products and transactions across the following focus areas: Sukuk, Islamic funds, Islamic syndications (project finance), Islamic swaps, Islamic trusts, structured, corporate & retail Islamic products and on matters of Sharia governance. Mohammed believes that the principal driver for growth of Islamic finance is responsible innovation directed at addressing the evolving stakeholder needs and it is his focus to act as a catalyst in this regard. Mohammed Saifullah Khan is an AAOIFI certified Sharia advisor and auditor serving as a coordinator for Sharia Boards across many Islamic finance institutions. Mr. Ijlal Ahmed Alvi
Chief Executive Officer
International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM)

Mr. Ijlal Ahmed Alvi has extensive experience in financial services industry with regional and international financial institutions spanning more than three decades of which the last 17 years are spent on unification and harmonization of the Islamic finance industry globally.

As the Chief Executive Officer of the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM) he has overseen the development and publication of global Shari’ah-compliant financial documentation and product confirmation standards as well as related guidelines for the Islamic finance industry. He has been influential in IIFM’s collaborative efforts by signing MOU’s with various international development bodies, multilateral entities and trade associations. Some of these collaborations have resulted in publication of a number of joint global standards.  In addition to his responsibilities as CEO, Secretary to the Board and Spokesperson of IIFM; Mr. Alvi also manages IIFM’s market consultation exercise, global working groups coordination and legal documentation drafting process as well as being actively involved in IIFM Shari’ah Board guidance and approval process for IIFM standards. He also manages IIFM’s market awareness seminars, briefing sessions, workshops, consultation meetings as well as publication of consultation papers, white papers and IIFM’s flagship annual Sukuk Report. Mr. Alvi has been part of a number of international steering committees, task-forces and working groups of various multilateral development organizations focused on development of the IFSI. He is a regular speaker at international conferences and also contributes articles in various international and Islamic finance publications.

Mr. Habib Motani

Mr. Habib is a leading international financial markets lawyer, with particular expertise in relation to Islamic hedging, derivatives, securities lending, repo, netting and collateral and clearing and settlement systems. He is a Consultant to Clifford Chance, having been a Partner for over 30 years and head of the firm's global derivatives practice. He specialises in OTC and securitised derivatives, structured capital markets products including derivative linked retail and wholesale structured products, investment banking sales and trading advisory work, Islamic derivatives, securities lending and repos, netting and collateral and their regulatory capital treatment and in the infrastructure aspects of the financial markets, such as payment and settlement systems, clearing systems, prime brokerage and custody.
